How to Apply the Blood of Jesus

There’s power in the blood of Jesus—real power. But if the blood stays “in the basin,” it won’t transform your life. In Exodus 12, the Passover lamb was slain, but protection came only when the blood was applied to the doorposts. Same today: Jesus’ blood never loses its power, but its power is experienced when it’s applied.
The blood saves; your agreement applies. We apply the blood by bringing our words into agreement with God’s Word—not with pop-culture “manifesting,” but with biblical confession and obedience (Revelation 12:11; Romans 10:9–10).
Not “Manifesting”—Aligning
I’m not talking about speaking things into existence by vibes and vision boards. That’s a counterfeit of God’s design. In Scripture, victory comes when our testimony aligns with His testimony—“the word of their testimony” joined to the Word of God (Revelation 12:11). When your mouth says what God has already said, life is released.
“Your tongue is a rudder.” (James 3:4)It’s small, but it steers your whole life—either toward trouble or toward truth.
Start at Passover: The Pattern
Exodus 12 shows the pattern:
A lamb is slain.
Hyssop (a humble branch often linked with faith) dips into the blood.
The blood is applied to the doorposts.
The destroyer passes over where the blood is seen.
Translation: Jesus, our Passover Lamb, has been slain (1 Cor 5:7). With the “hyssop” of faith, we apply His blood to our lives through confession and obedience. Covered doors become protected homes.
Salvation Is Offered to Everyone—But Applied Personally
God desires all to be saved (1 Tim 2:3–4; 2 Pet 3:9; Titus 2:11; John 3:16). Still, He will not force you. You apply the blood by believing and confessing Jesus as Lord.
“If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9–10)
Faith without obedient action is lifeless (James 2:17). Don’t leave the blood in the basin—respond.
Three Life-Changing Works of the Blood
There are many, but here are three you can apply today:
1) The Blood Redeems — Bought back and restored
Bible: Ephesians 1:7Redemption means Jesus paid the price to buy you back from sin and restore what was lost in Eden—relationship with the Father.Declare: “I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus.” (Psalm 107:2)Pastor’s note: Redemption not only separates you from sin; it separates you from your past (Romans 8:1). When shame shows up—say so: “I’m redeemed.”
2) The Blood Cleanses — Not covered, but removed
Bible: 1 John 1:6–7Biblically, the blood doesn’t just hide sin; it washes it away. That matters because the enemy is “the accuser” (Rev 12:10). When he brings up what God has washed away, answer with the blood.Declare: “I am cleansed and walking in the light—no condemnation.”
3) The Blood Justifies — Right with God by faith alone
Bible: Galatians 2:16You are not justified by works, rituals, or perfect performance—but by faith in Jesus. Not just faith about Jesus; faith inJesus—entrusting your life to Him like boarding the plane and letting the Pilot fly.One-liner: Right living doesn’t produce a right relationship; a right relationship produces right living.Declare: “Because of Jesus’ blood, I am declared righteous.”
Watch Your Words—Apply the Word
Want to move the blood from basin to life? Start here this week:
1) Daily Confession (30–60 seconds)
“I am redeemed (Eph 1:7).”
“I am cleansed and walk in the light (1 Jn 1:7).”
“I am justified by faith in Jesus (Gal 2:16).”
“No weapon formed against me will prosper (Isa 54:17).”
2) Pray the Word, Don’t Perform for God
When facing sickness, speak to it in Jesus’ name (Mark 16:17–18).
When facing temptation, answer with Scripture as Jesus did (Matt 4).
3) Choose Life-Giving Community
Share and receive life-giving texts and prayers. Your tongue shapes culture—start with your circle (Heb 10:24–25).
A Simple Prayer to Pray Today
Jesus, thank You for Your blood. I believe You died and rose again. Today I apply Your blood to my life by faith. Redeem what was lost, cleanse what was stained, and justify me fully. Align my words with Your Word. Holy Spirit, teach my tongue to speak life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Final Word
The blood of Jesus works. If the blood could stay the hand of judgment at Passover, it can cover, cleanse, and keep you today. Don’t leave it in the basin. Apply it. Then walk in assurance—redeemed, cleansed, justified.
